The prodigal son …
- Was brave enough to ask his father for his inheritance early.
- Was honest enough to take his inheritance and leave his father.
- Was “true” enough to admit “stuff” was more desirable than staying with his father.
- Wanted to make it on his own, thinking “stuff” would give him the life he wanted.
- Was willing to live from his heart, right or wrong, good or bad!
The prodigal son lived an honest, open, and willing life, qualities which led him to come to his senses and go back to his father.
“Wait, I’m feeding pigs! I’m starving enough to eat their food! No one is helping me! I have really sinned against my father and heaven! I’ll go and humble myself to him, maybe he’ll take me back.”
So he got up and came to his father.
But while he was a long way off, his father saw him.
He ran to his son, threw his arms around him, and kissed him.
(Luke 15:20)
Don’t be afraid of being where you really are. It’s part of the journey to a real kiss from God!
